Detailed Descriptions

2-3hr Workshops

Intro to Yoga Nidra
The basic theory, process and benefits of Yoga Nidra will be presented, and the session will end with a complete 45 minute practice of Yoga Nidra followed by Q/A.

Intro to the Yoga Sutras
This will be an accessible, general overview with an emphasis on certain sutras that can inform how we practice yoga and meditation as well as how we move through life. We will see how this text is just as applicable in a modern world.

Choosing Bliss: Meditation and Mindfulness (Also taught as a weekend immersion)
Mindfulness will be the focus of this workshop, and we’ll discuss some fundamental teachings that can help us move from a life of struggle and conflict to one of deep peace, joy and harmony.

Intro to Meditation
Meditation is such a broad topic with an endless range of available techniques from a variety of traditions. We’ll look at why meditation is important, what must be in place in order for it to be successful and how essential it is if we’re ever to create a peaceful world.

Intro to Pranayama
The breath is a complicated science which holds the keys to having an immediate and profound affect on our physiology and psychology. We’ll look at the science of breathing and how we can unlock its potential in practice and in life.

The 3 Gunas: Applied Practice
The entire changing world is built upon 3 fundamental attributes. Understanding how these attributes play a role in our lives, we can use our practice to activate the most positive aspects of stability, right action and balance.

The 5 Prana Vayus
Prana has 5 primary actions within the human body that govern all of the physiological and psychological functions. Knowing how they function allows us to correct imbalances, strengthen weakened areas and activate certain qualities of self-potential through practice.

Pratyahara: The Missing Limb
What makes meditation so challenging? In some cases we could say “lack of proper preparation.” Learning to withdraw the mind from the world and it’s dramas is key for harnessing its potential. We must train the mind to let go in order to go within.

The 5 Koshas
According to one yogic model, the human “body” is made up of 5 different dimensions of experience. Like an onion the human being is a complicated and layered sytem that begins at the material body and ends at the soul. We’ll explore how that shape our experiences and perceptions and how we can bring harmony to them.

The Power of Sankalpa (Intention) (Also taught as a weekend immersion)
Intention in yoga is more than a mere desire. It’s something that we deeply align with that begins to shape the course of our lives and even how we move through the world. Unlocking the potential of sankalpa through practice gives us tools for creating a life of deep purpose and fulfillment.

Intro to the Subtle Body
In order to truly harness the potential of our body is to understand its subtle nature. A fundamental language for understanding the subtle body gives us insight into how it operates at a deeper level and how we can use it as a mechanism for transformation.

Weekend Immersions

Yoga Nidra
Yoga Nidra is a deep science of relaxation and realization that gives us the ability to recondition our habits and develop a new relationship to the world. (See full description here).

Energetics of Yoga Practice
To unleash the full spectrum of our potential in yoga we must look beyond the physical form. The body is informed by subtle forces that are constantly shaping our experience and capacity. When we understand the language of them we can activate health, strength, balance and equanimity.

The Science of Pranayama
Pranayama isn’t just something that we can do as a seated practice, but is something that we overlay as part of our asana practice to expand the effect into reaching much deeper into our physiology and psychology. Learn how skillfull breathing directly relates to self-mastery.

Choosing Bliss: Meditation and Mindfulness
Mindfulness will be the focus of this workshop, and we’ll discuss some fundamental teachings that can help us move from a life of struggle and conflict to one of deep peace, joy and harmony through study, self-reflection and yoga practice.

Yoga Practice: According to the Yoga Sutras
It could appear that our modern yoga practice falls quite far from Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras. Re-weaving the potency of practice from this ancient tradition into our modern practice can give us a whole new way of looking at what “skillful practice” truly is.

The Power of Sankalpa (Intention)
Intention in yoga is more than a mere desire. It’s something that we deeply align with that begins to shape the course of our lives and even how we move through the world. Unlocking the potential of sankalpa through practice gives us tools for creating a life of deep purpose and fulfillment.
